As a seventh grader, I had already decided that I wanted to become an optometrist to help people see better. But even before that, I knew I wanted to be a wife and mother. In 2006, God blessed me with a beautiful son and made my dream of becoming a mother come true. Being a first time mother, I was very nervous and unsure about what it takes to be a good mother. Thankfully, my mother came to visit with me for a few weeks to help me with the baby. Once, as I was bathing Jesiah in his little baby tub and trying my hardest to be ever so gentle, my mother said, “Make sure you wash in between his toes.” I thought maybe I had heard her wrong. How on earth could I possibly wash between those teeny, tiny little toes that were so unbelievably cute! I did my best. From then on during bath time, while putting on socks or shoes, reading his favorite book, or just because, I played with those tiny little toes to hear Jesiah giggle. And thus, Mommy Loves My Little Toes was born. I’m still learning day by day what it means to be a mother. My wish is that you and your child love reading this book as much I loved writing it. Enjoy!
Optometric physician, Dr. Sakesha Yolonda Caston, invites you along to experience a day in the life of her son. Dr. Caston's son, Jesiah, is the inspiration for the creation of Mommy Loves My Little Toes.
Jesiah's love of seeing faces like his and the smile from his enjoyment is what prompted Mommy Loves My Little Toes to be created.
“Beautifully written and illustrated book that families are sure to cherish”
